Vixen Season 2 Full Season – Review
By Ricardo ‘Rease’ Butler
In season two on CWSeed.com, which is only about 29 minutes (a minute, give or take, shorter then season one). In this “season” she meets the man who killed her village, her mother and her father.
He has gotten his hands on the fire totem, which is one of five totems that we learn of in this season. There is one of fire, of water, of air, of earth, and of spirits (which is the one Vixen possesses).
The man reveals that he is the one who has killed, basically, Mari’s past while they are fighting. With that info Mari goes to see the professor again to find out anything that can help her defeat her enemy. While there she gets a call from Cisco aka Vibe that Weather Wizard of the Rogues is causing some trouble elsewhere.
Already on the scene is Firestorm and Flash defending the coast from Weather Wizard’s storms and flooding. They quickly defeat him though Vixen as well as Professor Stein and Jax are all injured during the battle.
The next morning Vixen wakes up to her step father in the hospital and later finds out that her best chance of beating her enemy is to team up with Felicity and her evil older sister Kuasa from season one. Kuasa tells them that they will need the water totem to defeat the fire totem. So they break into a rich collectors home to retrieve the totem only to have Kuasa turn on her sister to leave her to handle the cops on scene.
Vixen begins to chase after her sister on foot through downtown while Felicity Smoak alerts them that their enemy, the evil general and ambassador of their country is burning down parts of Detroit. During the fight with her sister Ray Palmer aka the Atom and Laurel Lance aka Black Canary show up to stop the two siblings only to all come together to take on the evil general who wants all of the totems for himself.
In a all out water and fire brawl Mari’s sister Kuasa is burned to ashes by the evil general and now only Vixen is left to fight the evil general. Later the professor finds the information they need to beat the evil general in the book. It involved taking the fire totem and crushing it, which will sever the soul connection between the totem and the general.
She gets it off him during their under water fight at the docks and she uses all the animal powers she can muster as sufficient weight to crush the fire totem.
Later, at the end of the episode Vixen receives a call to finally join (what I will call Justice League Unlimited) a new team with Green Arrow, Flash, Black Canary, and Atom and she finally agrees to not just defend Detroit but all mankind.
My Thoughts on this Story
The best part of this story is how they fleshed out some more details of Vixen’s past through her sister’s added information and the story laid out by the evil general. It shows how he was the one who killed their parents which in turned pushed these two sisters closer together and solidified Mari’s resolve to become who she was meant to be.
Again, don’t forget to pick up Justice League of America – Vixen Rebirth 001 (2017). It is DC Comics rebirth story of Vixen. I got it and I recommend you check her out too!
Thanks for reading!
