Justice League: New World Order

Hey DC fans! This is your boy Ricardo Butler Sr, AKA Rease Val Zod the Black Kryptonian! I’m back at it again. I’m just going to jump right into it.

If I were hired to create a DCU using the Marvel format my next movie in alignment with Marvel’s movie orders would be my first Avengers movie where the team comes together to fight the first major big bad. The story I would choose to use is JLA: New World Order.

Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)

Like in the first Avengers movie, the main bad guy was Loki who was like the main bad for the Thor movie. But in the Avengers movie, he was working for a bigger threat, namely Thanos. They all had to come together to fight this threat.

In my movie, the main evil would be bringing all the good guys together to face this global threat. The villains in my story would be the White Martians who are working for of course Darkseid. So, my movie is like the first Avengers movie, but with a Marvel’s Secret Invasion twist since the White Martians are shapeshifters. As I mentioned in my previous DCU movie blogs, Martian Manhunter would be my DCU’s Nick Fury uniting the team using his telepathy powers.

The White Martians have come to Earth to kidnap humans with the meta-gene to slave trade them to Darkseid so that he will turn them into weapons and traffic them across the galaxy to search for the Anti-Life Equation.

JLA: New World Order (August 31, 1997)

My first Justice League movie will be inspired by 3 different stories. The first one is obviously JLA: New World Order. Which by DC Comics is considered DC Essential reading. The world’s most classic heroes reunite to stop the world’s newest champions. Posing as a new group of superheroes, the Hyperclan have descended upon Earth, convincing everyone that they are a benevolent force. But as their true nature and plans come to light, only the World’s Greatest Heroes can stop them. Standing side by side, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash (Wally West), Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) and the Martian Manhunter take on the alien posers and come to realize that Earth needs a force made up of only the mightiest of heroes. I believe this is the story where the first incarnation of the Watchtower was introduced. Collects JLA #1-9 and JLA SECRET FILES #1.

I’m taking my second inspiration from the Justice League Animated Pilot story called “Secret Origins”. It’s a three-episode story where alien invaders who were accidentally awakened on Mars begin to take over the Earth, Superman and Batman rescue Martian Manhunter, who telepathically summons Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, The Flash (Wally West), and Green Lantern (John Stewart) to help stop the invasion. Superman gathers everyone at the newly built Watchtower, funded by Batman, and asks them to be part of a team, which he dubs the Justice League.

Thirdly, my first Justice League movie will take bits and pieces of ideas from the Young Justice animated TV show. I’m especially taking influence from Season 4’s episode called “Beyond the Grip of the Gods!” where on Apokolips, the White Martian Ma’alefa’ak works for Darkseid.

Cast & Character Motives

Of course, we are pulling all the heroes from my previous DCU movies as well as adding new ones to complete what we DC fans know as the Original Seven.

Aquaman / Author Curry: This will be the King of Atlantis’ first appearance in my DC Universe. I’m no writer but he could join the newly formed Justice League by them recruiting his help because of the White Martian’s threats that can also be posed against Earth’s oceans. Or Aquaman can join the fight because of some kind of weapon attacking Atlantis from the battle that leads him to jump to the conclusion that it was the humans to find out that it was the White Martians and humans are not the enemy. Another possible way to bring him into the story is that the White Martians working for Darkseid’s meta-human trafficking ring, the Hyperclan is posing at Atlanteans and kidnapping Author’s people to trade throughout the galaxy.

Superman / Kal-El / Clark Kent: As my DCU’s Ironman, the last time we saw Superman was back in Superman Vs. Lobo. So, he is aware of a threat from space to kidnap humans with the meta-gene. He is the co-leader of the team and the face to the people of the world that humans trust. That’s his leadership role among the DC Trinity.

Wonder Woman / Diana Prince: As my DCU’s Captain America, Wonder Woman is obviously not frozen in ice for years. But she has been trying to live a regular life for years since the World Wars. There are comic books where Wonder Woman was a spy. Maybe she has come out of that lifestyle to help the newly formed Justice League. She has reconnected with her Amazon family and is now the new Ambassador between the nations, Paradise Island, and the Justice League.

Batman / Bruce Wayne: As my DCU’s Hulk, as I have said in other places, Batman is oversaturating the market. He will not get a lot of solo movies. He will feature more as cameos or even supporting roles in my other DC movies and Justice League movies. Upon investigating Deathstroke and Amanda Waller in my Batman Vs. Deathstroke movie Batman is way ahead of everyone suspecting there was an attack coming concerning metahuman trafficking. He is the team’s third leader who works behind the scenes.

Flash / Barry Allen: As my DCU’s Thor, he as well as Green Lantern Hall Jordon have the other pieces of the mystery that Batman needs about the threat to kidnap humans with hidden meta-genes. In the comic book story and the Justice League animated story, they both use Wally West. But I am starting my DCU and creating my Justice League with Barry Allen first. Wally will come later.

Martian Manhunter / J’onn J’onzz / John Jones: As my DCU’s Nick Fury, Martian Manhunter is also my Black Widow. He has been combining this team since my first DCU movie Superman: Mild Mannered. He has been aware of the potential threat. This is his primary reason for fleeing Mars and coming to Earth. But he does not yet know who is behind this either. The newly formed Justice League coming together to share notes is what makes him first aware of what they are dealing with concerning the White Martians.

Green Lantern / Hal Jordon: In the Flash movie, Hal was my Heimdall. But in this movie, he is my Hawkeye. Working with Barry in my The Flash & Green Lantern movie they did the buddy cop thing and put their pieces together to see the bigger threat coming from outer space.

Lex Luthor: As my DCU’s Loki, he works for Darkseid. But my Lex Luthor is more like Vandal Savage was in Young Justice animated. Darkseid is forcing Lex to work for him, but all the while Lex hates aliens and is playing a long game to betray Darkseid. He is working alongside the White Martians reluctantly.

Amanda Waller: Who is also like a Nick Fury works for Lex Luthor but who also has to goal of betraying Lex who she doesn’t know is actually going to betray Darkseid. She is an agent sent by the US Government to keep an eye on Lex. She doesn’t trust Lex, the Justice League, the White Martians, or any of the New Gods of Apokolips.

The White Martians: I will mention more about the White Martians below.

Kalibak: Is Darkseid’s son who is overseeing the whole transaction for his father with the White Martians and Lex Luthor. He also receives counsel from …

Glorious Godfrey: He is also a New God whose greatest gifts are his overwhelming speaking voice and his extraordinary powers of persuasion. He is kind of like an advocate for the White Martians who are posing as heroes called the Hyperclan. He leads the people of Earth to not trust the Justice League.

Other Supporting Character Rolls (Optional)

In the JLA: New World Order story, the White Martians pose as a superhero team who came to Earth to fix all of Earth’s major problems from global warming to homelessness. With help from Lex Luthor and Godfrey they sway public opinion from the Justice League to the Hyperclan. Some potential White Martians we can use can be:

M’Comm M’orzz / Ma’alefa’ak / Malefic / Malefic Jones: a White Martian usually depicted as the archenemy of his twin brother, the superhero Martian Manhunter.

Protex: The leader of the Hyperclan. Protex exuded radiance and charisma that immediately endeared him to the people of Earth, but others, such as the members of the recently re-formed JLA were dubious of his supposed good intentions.

Primaid: A female White Martian and the second-in-command of the Hyperclan. Primaid and her seven colleagues came to Earth several years ago, claiming to be the last survivors of a world that had been destroyed by geological upheaval and environmental irresponsibility. Vowing to never allow such a catastrophe to even occur again, the Hyperclan allegedly journeyed through space for “a thousand gyres”, seeking out planets in need of saving. In truth though, this was just a front to turn public opinion against Earth’s more prominent super-heroes, specifically, the Justice League.

A-Mortal: A member of Hyperclan with a frightful appearance.

Armek: A member of Hyperclan who posed as a large robotic hero.

Fluxus: A super-strong White Martian and member of Hyperclan who posed as a shapeshifting hero.

Tronix: A female White Martian and a member of Hyperclan who posed as a superhero with flight and eye beams.

Zenturion: A member of Hyperclan.

Züm: A member of Hyperclan who posed as a superhero with super-speed.

Miss Martian / M’gann M’orzz / Megan Morse: I am putting Miss Martian in my movie more as a teaser of what’s to come with up-and-coming young heroes.

This would be my first Justice League movie and the ending of my phase 1 of movies. Not what you expected huh? Most DC fans probably would not use this story first, but like in video games you always start with lesser bosses and build up as each boss gets stronger until you fight the final boss, Darkseid. What would you do differently? Which Justice League story would you take inspiration from for your Justice League movie? Leave a comment below!
